Including your sponsor information as a banner on your conference CD, flash drive or online is a great way to generate revenue and promote industry suppliers to your attendees.
This document outlines the specifications for banner advertisement on digital media produced by Omnipress.

Header Banner
- Banner ads commonly reside in the header of the layout, where they are sure to be seen.
- This may restrict the amount of artwork that can be displayed in the header. We can work with you to create the best solution.
- 468 x 60 pixels in size
Navigation Banner
- A small square banner can be placed above or below the left side navigation links.
- The 125 x 125 pixels banner is the preferred size, although the larger 120 x 240 pixels banner can be used if needed.
- The smaller navigation-area ad above is preferred as it is less likely to push the navigation off the bottom of the screen.
File Formats
- GIF (Graphic Interchange Format) – This format can be sized smaller than JPG, though its compression ratio is dependent on the colors used in the image. GIF also supports only a maximum of 256 colors (far less than JPG), but it provides support for transparency (clear portions of the image) and animation (which JPG does not).
- Animated GIF – This format allows your graphic to rotate or have simple animations within your image. A well-done animation is eye-catching without being difficult to read. Remember to not over complicate your design.
- JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) – This format is ideal for photo-quality and other high-resolution images containing millions of colors. JPG is what is known as a lossy compression format, because it works to remove redundant and unneeded graphical data that doesn't impact the look of the image. However, as good as JPG is for photo-like images, it doesn't do nearly as good a job on simple line graphics, clip art, and text.
Hyperlinks
- Banner ads can be linked to a sponsor page that already resides on your CD or Flash drive. Indicate the document you want the ad to link to.
- Banner ads can be linked to any web page.
- The entire ad is linked; you will not be able to create "hotspots" on a single ad for different links.
5 Tips for Creating Impactful Banner Ads
- Design for impact. Select font sizes, styles and colors that maximize your ad's readability. If your banner ad is of poor quality, people will assume your web site and services are too. Animating your banner can increase effectiveness by 30% to 40%.
- Ask for an action. What do you want people who see your banner ad to do? You want them to click on it, so be sure your ad says so. Then take them to a specific landing page that matches the offer. Avoid taking them to your home page.
- Create an impacting headline. Your headline should have only one offer. Keep your headline to no more than eight words and then use that same heading on the landing page you direct them to.
- Emphasize benefits, not features. Advertisers realized long ago that more than anything else, people want to know how your product/service can improve their lives.
- Simple. Simple. Simple. Your banner ad may only have a few seconds to make an impact on the viewer. Your viewer needs to easily understand what your ad is saying. Use the fewest and simplest words you can.
